Delayed Bloggy.

So looking back through my blogs I realized I didn't blog about my random ass road trip I took a couple weeks back! I can't believe I haven't mentioned it, not even once. A couple saturdays ago, me and my buddy Nick went on a semi-short road-trip over the Ohio State line into West Virginia and met up with my friends Brittany, Brandon & Tim at Mountaineer Casino & Racetrack. I played a little bit of Blackjack (my first hand was a Blackjack, yesss!) Nick kicked ass on the slot machines. It was a lot of fun!
Then on our way back to my house for the night, me and Nick were talking about where we've been, where we'd like to go and trying to guess how far Chicago was from Akron. We got to my house googled how far Chicago & New York City was, realized NYC was only an hour more away than Chicago so we decided to go to NYC. We left at 530am about 45 minutes after being home from Mountaineer. Nick drove most of the time (there and back.) We were only in NYC for a little over 4 hours but it was amazing! I've ALWAYS wanted to go to NYC in the winter time, close to Christmas and I finally got to do it! We went to a lot of places, but didn't get the whole NYC experience. We mostly stayed around Times Square. Didn't make it down to Central Park or actually go over to Ellis Island & the Statue of Liberty but we did make sure we went to the side of the Hudson river & take a look at them both.
We even drove around in the "neighborhoods" and saw the TALL apartment buildings. There's so many people that were walking, jogging, walking their dogs. And it was actually "peaceful." Driving around the neighborhoods was one of my favorite parts because I never got to see that side of NYC before (and I always wondered where everyone lived at? lol) I swear there was a McDonalds on every single block, no joke! Every block we walked I would look down each side and see a McDonald's sign down one of the streets. It was insane. We drove by Ground Zero a couple times. It hasn't changed since I went there back in 2003. The gates are still up around it and the one building next to it still has a huge netting covering the whole side of the building.
We spent a lot of time around the Empire State Building. (The gargoyles were pretty sweet, I don't know why I liked them so much. lol) We even went into Grand Central Station. I pointed out the ball that drops on New Years Eve. I got to see the ice skating rink. Times Square always looks amazing. We ate at pretty much every street side vendor. Somehow we decided Sbarro was where we were gonna eat dinner at, even though we have them in Akron too. The Lincoln Tunnel freaked me the fuck out. I hate the fact that you gotta travel UNDER the Hudson river to get into NYC. All I kept thinking about was that movie with Sylvester Stallone in it when the Lincoln Tunnel collapses and he goes in to rescue the people trapped in the middle of the tunnel. The walls always look wet to me too.
We might be going back to NYC for a whole weekend in a week or two. If we go we'll be experiencing the NYC night life. I can't wait to see NYC at night time, I'm SO excited!
